"It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult."
Lucius Annaenus Seneca
Lucius Annaenus Seneca

"Being creative is a necessary expression of my soul. As a maturing artist I have become very familiar and am starting to understand the language in which my soul presents itself on canvas and I am at a point where I am able to form sentences and use this peculiar soul language to communicate with my self and others."
Growing up between two rapidly changing and very different worlds, West-Africa and Germany, my art was necessary to enable me to create my own world from an early age on, a world that I had control over when there was no control over the external world. Through the manifestations of my art on canvas or paper I was able to reflect on and recognize the interconnectedness of all things and to penetrate into deeper yet more ethereal realms of my own being. Life circumstances and choices always fostered a life in relative solitude close to nature and wilderness and my paintings draw their elements, contents or symbolism from the natural world.
Leaving behind the comforts of representational art I am able to examine the intangible realms of the psyche and the spirit. Living surrounded by nature, being a highly sensitive person and a receiver to messages from the spirit realm, my art is a complex process in which I allow the subconscious to surface and express itself. The paintings coming into existence through this process are almost always depicting an emotional state of being using elements and patterns of the natural world. The surrender to the medium, the brush and the surface invites the immaterial world in which the soul resides and operates from, to reveal itself. It is this dialogue that I am interested in. What else might there be besides this dense material realm we call our reality?
C.G. Jung’s psychology as well as Rudolf Steiner philosophies are part of the inspiration that fuels my art in that there is a knowing that the immaterial realm exists and it is accessible through art, music, writing, and that this realm is asking to be expressed and made visible.
Having worked in all mediums I appreciate each one for their individual properties and for their ability to bring forth different aspects of my creativity. There is no preferred medium to my work as each of them seems to engage my artistic self in their own unique way.
